Research Opportunities
If you are a current undergraduate at UC Irvine, please check out the projects below and email [email protected] if you are interested! If you are a graduate student at Penn State (or are planning to apply to graduate school at PSU MNE) and have an interest in fluid mechanics and/or biomechanics, I would also love to hear from you.
Undergraduate Research Opportunity
Aquatic insect hydrodynamics
Investigate the physics of motion of animals that can swim, crawl, AND fly! Research project will focus on the hydrodynamics of Corixidae (water boatmen) and Notonectidae (backswimmers).

Undergraduate Research Opportunity
Ctenophore swimming mechanics
As the world's largest ciliates, ctenophores can offer us profound insights on underwater propulsion at intermediate scales. This project will involve video tracking of Pleurobrachia bachei.
